# Data sources

> What feeds your Microsite reporting.

## Overview

Data sources are the connections that feed both Performance reporting and Visibility reporting.

## What happens here

Google Search Console and Google Analytics are connected to Portal on a read-only basis, using secure access scoped to your own organisation's data. This connection is what allows the page-slug comparison used in Performance reporting, and the click, impression, and ranking data used in Visibility reporting.

## What this means for you

You don't need to manage this connection day to day. It's the foundation that makes both reporting views possible, and it only ever reads your own data.
